Purpose of the Rally
The purpose of the rally is to commemorate Vicha Ratanapakdee, an 84-year-old Thai American man who was murdered on January 28, 2021, in San Francisco after being pushed to the ground in a daylight attack. The rally is meant to call attention to Mr. Ratanapakdee, the hundreds of victims of anti-Asian violence, and the thousands of people subjected to anti-Asian hate. This event is meant to re-focus the public on the persistent issue of anti-Asian violence and prejudice at the one-year anniversary of the #StopAsianHate movement. We also hope it will inspire a conversation among Asian American leaders about the next steps in advancing the Asian American movement. Place and Time The rally is happening in various cities across the country. For information about the time and location of the rallies in San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago, and New York, please visit https://asianjusticerally.org/. This is a live rally that is scheduled to take place outdoors, and there is no option for virtual participation in LA. Please take precautions against COVID-19 by wearing a mask and taking any other steps you deem appropriate.
